Preakness Stakes 2021 wagering menu offers options aplenty

The 146th Preakness Stakes program features 14 races starting at 10:30 a.m. EDT with the main event carded as the 13th race with an approximate post-time of 6:47 pm.

On Preakness day, horseplayers will be greeted with a variety wagering options from Pimlico Race Course. In addition to straight win, place and show bets, each race on the program will offer a $1 minimum Exacta, 50-cent minimum Trifecta and a superfecta wager with a base price of 10-cents. There is also a $1 Super High-5 wager for those races with enough starters

Multi-race wagers include rolling daily doubles and rolling Pick 3s, with a 50-cent minimum, starting with race No. 1. The Preakness program also has three Pick 4s and two Pick 5s, each a 50-cent base wager. 

The first Pick 5 starts with the second race. The sequence includes three allowance races, as well as the $200,000 Chick Lang Stakes (G3) for 3-year-old sprinters and $150,000 Gallorette (G3) for older fillies and mares on turf. 

The second Pick 5 starts with the ninth race. The sequence includes the $100,000 Skipat Stakes for female sprinters, $100,000 Jim McKay Turf Sprint, $150,000 Maryland Sprint Stakes (G3), $250,000 Dinner Party Stakes (G2) for older turf horses and concludes with the $1 million Preakness. 

There is also a Rainbow 6 starting with the eighth race - the $100,000 James W. Murphy Stakes - and ending with the Preakness. It is a 20-cent minimum wager and has a 20 percent takeout. In the event there is more than one ticket with all six winners, 60 percent of the pool will be distributed with 40 percent will go into a carryover. 

The trio of Pick 4s begin in races 3, 6 and 10.
