Preakness 2025: It looks like a wet week in Baltimore
As if it were not wet enough for the Kentucky Derby.
If government forecasters have it right, this promises to be a rainy week at Pimlico with hot, sticky weather being an even-money proposition for Preakness 2025.
The National Weather Service predicts a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms Saturday for the second jewel of the Triple Crown. The high temperature is forecast to be 89 degrees.
Conditions for the Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes on Friday are expected to be about the same. There is a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. EDT with a forecast high of 88 degrees.
Rain is mentioned in the Baltimore forecast every day this week. The chance of showers reaches 80% on Monday night and 90% on Tuesday and Wednesday with up to an inch of precipitation during that time. The chance of rain drops to 60% on Thursday.
High temperatures go from 79 degrees Monday to 73 degrees Tuesday. It goes back up to 79 on Wednesday and rises to 83 on Thursday.
Last year’s Preakness won by Seize the Grey was run under muddy conditions, ending a streak of five consecutive renewals with a fast track.
