Preakness 2023: See odds at international book, but be careful

One international gambling site established Kentucky Derby winner Mage as its 2-1 futures favorite Wednesday morning to win Preakness 2023 in 10 days at Pimlico. That declaration comes with the usual warning for bettors venturing into the treacherous waters of offshore wagering.

Bovada of Costa Rica still listed Two Phil’s at odds of 4-1 even though trainer Larry Rivelli declared him Monday night to be out of consideration for the second race in the Triple Crown.

But what would the fair odds be for Preakness 2023?

First Mission, a lightly raced new shooter who won the Lexington Stakes (G3) for trainer Brad Cox, carried futures odds of 3-1. Maiden winner National Treasure, who will be Bob Baffert’s first classic entry in two years, was 8-1.

Eleven horses were listed in the international futures, including eight of the nine widely viewed as probable or possible names that will pass through the entry box at Pimlico on Monday. Federico Tesio winner Perform, whom Daily Racing Form reported would be supplemented into the field, was not shown.

Henry Q was posted at 16-1, although trainer Doug O’Neill told the Los Angeles Times his preference was Saturday’s Peter Pan (G3) at Belmont Park. Il Miracolo was shown at 50-1, even though he was entered in an allowance race Thursday at Gulfstream Park.
