New Jersey stewards have suspended trainer Wayne Potts for 15 days after a horse in his care tested positive for an anti-inflammatory medication after a race in June.

As BloodHorse reported earlier, Kentucky Cool, a 3-year-old gelding, tested positive for Flunixin after winning the second race at Monmouth Park on June 5. A blood-sample test found 10.1 nanograms per milliliter of the substance.

Flunixin is an anti-inflammatory medication that also is used to alleviate pain.

Potts' suspension runs from Sept. 1 through Sept. 15. He also was fined $500. Kentucky Cool, who won by a neck, was disqualified.

The trainer told BloodHorse that he would appeal the decision to the New Jersey Racing Commission.
