Breeders’ Cup 2022: Times for races at Keeneland are posted
The Breeders’ Cup Classic is scheduled to be run at 5:40 p.m. EDT on Saturday, Nov. 5, according to a schedule posted on the championships’ website.
The schedule shown for the Nov. 4 and 5 races at Keeneland looked similar to what it was in 2015 and 2020, the first two years the meet was held at the track in Lexington, Ky.
There are 160 betting choices in Breeders’ Cup futures.
A Breeders’ Cup spokesperson stopped short of confirming the times were accurate, saying only that a formal announcement had not yet been made.
NBC will have exclusive TV coverage of the $6 million Classic, the richest race in America. It also will carry the Distaff and Turf during the same program.
USA Network, where many NBC sports properties were moved when NBCSN went dark last winter, will air all five of the Breeders’ Cup 2-year-old races Friday. It also will show the Sprint, Filly & Mare Turf, Dirt Mile and Mile on Saturday.
FanDuel TV, formerly known as TVG, will have its own live coverage of all the Breeders’ Cup races except the Classic.
According to the times shown at BreedersCup.com, the one change from last year’s order of races at Del Mar was the switch of the Sprint and the Dirt Mile. They will fall in that order this year on either side of the Filly & Mare Turf rather than the other way around.
In most cases, there will be 40 minutes between races, with the notable exception of the full hour between the Turf and the Classic on Nov. 5.
The Breeders’ Cup Friday card again will feature all the juvenile races; all the 3-year-olds and up again will race Saturday. With the elevation of the Filly & Mare Sprint from its former Grade 2 status, all 14 of the races branded as world championships will be Grade 1s.
