Colts Neck Stables LLC’s Pool Winner grabbed the lead right from the start and never looked back, posting a nearly three-length victory in the $60,000 My Frenchman Stakes at Monmouth Park on Saturday.

Trained by Alan Goldberg, Pool Winner stepped the 5 ½ furlongs over firm turf in 1:01.72 and paid $6.40, $3.40 and $2.60.  Sylven Park closed well to complete the $95.60 exacta and paid $15.60 and $4.40.  It was another length and a half back to post-time favorite Run for Logistics, who paid $2.20 to show.

“The plan was to go to the front,” said winning jockey Nik Juarez.  “Speed has been good on both turf and dirt today.  I was looking around for the competition before asking him for a little more at the 3/16ths pole and he just kept on going.”

A 4-year-old gelding by Broken Vow from the Dixieland Band mare Welcome Home, Pool Winner has now won six of his 15 lifetime starts, good for earnings of $244,840.

Live racing continues at Monmouth Park on Sunday, Aug. 14 – gates open 11:30 a.m., first post 12:50 p.m.
