Point of Entry Hopes to Wave American Flag in BC Turf

European runners usually dominate the Grade I Breeders' Cup Turf but New York based colt Point of Entry hopes to change that trend at Santa Anita Park on Saturday.

Point of Entry has won his last five turf marathon outings including three straight vs. grade one rivals. The tactical type handles any footing and is the most talented long distance US runner in quite some time. John Velazquez rides the 3-1 morning line favorite and the Shug McGaughey runner will break from the rail.

Defending BC Turf champion St Nicholas Abbey finished 11th in the Arc at Longchamp last time but he follwed up an Arc loss with a win in this event last year.

Shareta finished 9th of 18 in the Arc and may not have cared for heavy footing. The 4-year-old filly won back-to-back group one races at 12 furlongs prior to her last and is more than capable of winning this on her best day.

Polytrack specialist Dullahan will probably appreciate firm ground. He will sit back and attempt to get involved late but does not have the same explosiveness on turf and is unproven beyond ten furlongs.

Turbo Compressor wired the field in the G1 United Nations at Monmouth Park this summer and might try similar tactics in this spot.

Slim Shadey snuck away from Turbo Compressor in the local prep for this. Will Garrett Gomez get aggressive and attempt another theft?

Treasure Beach, Cogito, Little Mike, Kindergarden Kid, Optimizer, and Trailblazer round out the field.
