Plumania eyeing Breeders' Cup, Stacelita unlikely
Group 1 winner Plumania is set to sign off a career exclusively based in France with a tilt at the Breeders' Cup, it was announced on Wednesday.
The Wertheimer brothers' daughter of Anabaa beat Youmzain in the Group 1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud, before finishing second to Midday in the Qatar Prix Vermeille.
She then failed to fire when a disappointing 16th behind Workforce in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe this month.
Pierre-Yves Bureau, racing manager to the Wertheimers, said: "She will go to Churchill Downs and run in one ofthe Breeders' Cup races.
"We will look at both the Turf and the Filly & Mare Turf. We have until October 25 to see what is going to run in these races and may make a double entry. We were disappointed with her run in the Arc and [jockey] Olivier Peslier told us she was never going well, lifeless and not the filly he knows."
Another French-trained Group 1 winner, Stacelita, looks unlikely to run at Breeders' Cup.
The Monsun filly was beaten into second in the Prix de l'Opera this month and owner Martin Schwartz's racing manager Michel Zerolo said: "The filly's next race is planned to be the Hong Kong Cup at Sha Tin in December.
