Pirate's Trove Finds Maiden Treasure in Debut

The other breakout performance of Saturday afternoon at Arlington International Racecourse aside from I Got It All's romp in the Springfield Stakes came in the third race when Gary and Suzanne Biszantz's Pirate's Trove swabbed the deck with seven other fillies in a 6½-furlong maiden special weight by 12¼ lengths.  Under meet-leading rider Florent Geroux for purse-leading trainer Mike Stidham (second in wins), the daughter of Speightstown broke on top and never looked back, while hand-ridden to a rapid 1:17.56.

Pirate's Trove was bred by WinStar Farm and M R Capital and had put in a series of works at Arlington and Keeneland leading up to her unveiling, including a spritely :59.80 for five furlongs on May 4 - second-fastest of 40 that day.  She is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner and multiple graded stakes-placed sprinter/miler Authenticat, who was third to Breeders' Cup Champion Informed Decision in the 2009 Grade III Chicago Handicap and flourished on synthetic and grass surfaces.
