Perryville fair odds: Single this potential superstar at Keeneland

The Perryville may not have the prestige of upcoming middle distance races like the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile, but I expect its favorite to be a big name in his division come next year.

Before we get to races like the Cigar Mile and beyond, Book'em Danno has to pass the Perryville test, and the biggest question on the test could come in the form of undefeated Knightsbridge.

Book'em Danno has raced midpack in his best efforts but was further back last out in the H. Allen Jerkens Memorial (G1). That was against better competition than this, including future Ashford Stud stallion Domestic Product. In this spot, jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. should be able to lie closer, which is to Book'em Danno's benefit.

Knightsbridge likely has a stakes future as well, but I'm not sure taking on Book'em Danno off a layoff is his best chance to win.

As you can see from the fair odds, it's a big drop to the next choice. My wagering strategy is to single Book'em Danno, which I'm comfortable with considering I'm willing to oppose the favorite in the Raven Run Stakes.
