Pensioned Lane's End stallion Stephen Got Even dies at 23

Stephen Got Even, a million-dollar earner and Grade 1-winning son of A.P. Indy has died at age 23 at Lane’s End Farm, it was announced Tuesday. Stephen Got Even stood at Lane’s End from 2001 through 2015 and retired from stud alongside his sire.

aced by Stephen and Tomisue Hilbert, Stephen Got Even was an outstanding racehorse, having won the Grade 1 Donn Handicap and earning $1,019,200 during his racing career. He is the sire of the champion 2-year-old colt Stevie Wonderboy and Grade 1 winners First Dude and I Want Revenge.  


Bred by W. S. Farish and W. S. Kilroy, 
Stephen Got Even was foaled at Len's End Farm and sold at the 1997 Keeneland July Yearling Sale. Following his stellar racing career, he returned to Lane’s End to stand at stud.

Stephen Got Even will be greatly missed at the farm and will be remembered for his kind disposition. He will be buried in the cemetery at Lane’s End.
