Penn Mile is postponed 4 weeks because of inclement weather
The Grade 3 Penn Mile scheduled for Friday at Penn National was postponed for four weeks because of inclement weather in the forecast.
An X post by the Pennsylvania Horse Racing Association said the stakes races scheduled for Friday at the track near Harrisburg, Pa., will be held June 20 instead, with a first post of 5 p.m. EDT.
Penn National will proceed with the seven overnight races that were planned for Friday.
The other stakes on the Penn Mile card are the Penn Oaks, the Alphabet Soup Handicap and the Lyphard Stakes.
Horses entered in those four stakes are automatically re-nominated to their respective stakes races to be run June 20th. Additional nominations are being accepted until, June 11. Entries for the entire June 20 card will be drawn June 13.
The National Weather Service forecast for Grantville, Pa., called for a 60% chance of rain Friday and Friday night. As much as an inch of rain is possible.
Mi Bago, trained by Mark Casse, was the morning-line favorite for the Penn Mile at 5-2. The 3-year-old Vekoma colt was fourth last out in the American Turf (G1) on the Kentucky Derby undercard at Churchill Downs.
