Pegasus World Cup will anchor guaranteed pools

The inaugural running of the $12 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1), the world’s richest horse race, will anchor guaranteed pools in the 50-cent Late Pick 4, 50-cent Late Pick 5 and 20-cent Rainbow 6 Saturday, Jan. 28 at Gulfstream Park.
           
            The guarantees are:
 
o   The Late Pick 4, covering Races 9-12, will be guaranteed at $1 million.
 
o   The Late Pick 5 (Races 8-12) will have a guarantee of $500,000.
 
o   The Rainbow 6 (Races 7-12) will be guaranteed at $300,000.
 
            First race post time on Pegasus World Cup Day is 11:30 a.m. Entries will be taken and post positions drawn Monday, Jan. 23 at 4:30 p.m. at Gulfstream’s Pegasus Park.
 
            The 1 1/8-mile Pegasus World Cup Invitational is expected to feature a rematch of California Chrome and Arrogate, who upset the newly crowned two-time Horse of the Year in their previous meeting in the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) Nov. 6 at Santa Anita.
 

            Also on the Pegasus World Cup Day program are the $400,000 Poseidon, $200,000 La Prevoyante (G3), $200,000 W.L. McKnight (G3), $100,000 Hurricane Bertie (G3), $125,000 Gulfstream Park Turf Sprint and $125,000 Ladies’ Turf Sprint.
