Pegasus World Cup day's Late Pick 4 guaranteed at $1 million
Gulfstream Park will offer guaranteed pools in the late Pick 4 and Late Pick 5 wagers Saturday, Jan. 27 as part of a spectacular program of eight stakes, five graded, led by the $16 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1), the world’s richest Thoroughbred race.
Covering the day’s final four races, the 50-cent Late Pick 4 will be guaranteed at $1 million while the 50-cent Late Pick 5, spanning the day’s last five races, will be guaranteed at $750,000.
The carryover jackpot for the 20-cent Rainbow 6, which requires bettors to select the winners of the day’s final six races, stood at $2,292,790 heading into Wednesday’s 10-race program. Should the popular multi-race wager continue to go unsolved, there will be a mandatory payout on Sunday, Jan. 28.
The Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
The second running of the unique and innovative Pegasus World Cup will be the career finale of 2017 Horse of the Year favorite Gun Runner, who is scheduled to arrive in South Florida Thursday afternoon, Jan. 18.
Also running are Collected, Fear the Cowboy, Giant Expectations, Gunnevera, Seeking the Soul, Sharp Azteca, Stellar Wind, Toast of New York, West Coast and War Story.
Pegasus Day will feature eight stakes worth $17.125 million, including the $200,000 W.L. McKnight (G3), $200,000 La Prevoyante (G3), $125,000 Fred Hooper (G3) and the $125,000 Hurricane Bertie (G3).
