Pegasus Turf victor Atone, 29 other graded-stakes winners drill

Atone, winner of last month's Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational (G1), returned to the work tab on Saturday, covering five furlongs in 1:02.0 at Gulfstream Park. 

The move by the Mike Maker-trained son of Into Mischief was the eighth fastest of 12 works at the distance.

It was the first timed workout by the 6-year-old gelding since he sprung a minor upset in the 1 1/8-mile Pegasus Turf on Jan. 28 to record his first graded stakes victory. 

Maker has not yet named a target for Atone's next start.

Atone was one of 30 graded stakes winners who recorded timed workouts on Saturday. The others were:

Faiza (Girvin), a Grade 1 winner (2022 Starlet), worked three furlongs in 37.8 seconds at Santa Anita on Saturday morning. It was the seventh fastest of eight works at the distance. This was her first work since her last race. In her last start she won the Las Virgenes (G3) going one mile on the main track at Santa Anita on Jan. 28 for trainer Bob Baffert.

Forte (Violence), a three-time Grade 1 winner (2022 Breeders' Cup Juvenile, 2022 Breeders' Futurity, 2022 Hopeful), worked five furlongs in 1:03.4 at Palm Beach Downs on Saturday morning. It was the fourth fastest of five works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Palm Beach Downs. In his last start he won the Breeders' Cup Juvenile going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Keeneland on Nov. 4 for trainer Todd Pletcher.

Society (Gun Runner), a Grade 1 winner (2022 Cotillion), worked four furlongs in 51.6 seconds at Fair Grounds on Saturday morning. It was the 79th fastest of 86 works at the distance. This was her first work since her last race. In her last start she placed seventh in the Breeders' Cup Distaff going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Keeneland on Nov. 5 for trainer Steve Asmussen.

Ain't Easy (Into Mischief), a Grade 2 winner (2021 Chandelier), worked five furlongs in 1:00.6 at Santa Anita on Saturday morning. It was the 15th fastest of 44 works at the distance. Her previous work was six days ago going five furlongs at Santa Anita. In her last start she placed sixth in the La Brea (G1) going seven furlongs on the main track at Santa Anita on Dec. 26 for trainer Philip D'Amato.

Andthewinneris (Oscar Performance), a Grade 2 winner (2022 Bourbon), worked four furlongs in 49.6 seconds at Fair Grounds on Saturday morning. It was the 46th fastest of 86 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he won the Texas Turf Mile going one mile on the turf at Sam Houston Race Park on Jan. 28 for trainer Wayne M. Catalano.

Becca Taylor (Old Topper), a Grade 2 winner (2022 Great Lady M), worked four furlongs in 49.4 seconds at Santa Anita on Saturday morning. It was the seventh fastest of 13 works at the distance. Her previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Santa Anita. In her last start she won the Great Lady M (G2) going 6 1/2 furlongs on the main track at Los Alamitos Race Course on July 4 for trainer Steven Miyadi.

Double Crown (Bourbon Courage), a Grade 2 winner (2022 Kelso Handicap), worked five furlongs in 1:00.2 at Laurel Park on Saturday morning. It was the second fastest of 19 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed third in an allowance race going one mile on the main track at Parx Racing on Jan. 30 for trainer Norman L. Cash.

Gold Phoenix (Belardo), a Grade 2 winner (2022 Del Mar Handicap), worked five furlongs in 1:02.0 at Santa Anita on Saturday morning. It was the 14th fastest of 19 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start he placed 10th in the Breeders' Cup Turf going 1 1/2 miles on the turf at Keeneland on Nov. 5 for trainer Philip D'Amato.

Hoosier Philly (Into Mischief), a Grade 2 winner (2022 Golden Rod), worked four furlongs in 47.4 seconds at Fair Grounds on Saturday morning. It was the fastest of 86 works at the distance. Her previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Fair Grounds. In her last start she won the Golden Rod (G2) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Churchill Downs on Nov. 26 for trainer Tom Amoss.

Practical Move (Practical Joke), a Grade 2 winner (2022 Los Alamitos Futurity), worked five furlongs in 59.2 seconds at Santa Anita on Saturday morning. It was the fastest of 44 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Santa Anita. Ready to Purrform (Kitten's Joy), a Grade 2 winner (2022 National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame), worked five furlongs in 1:01.4 at Fair Grounds on Saturday morning. It was the 20th fastest of 62 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Fair Grounds. In his last start he placed sixth in the Colonel E. R. Bradley going 1 1/16 miles on the turf at Fair Grounds on Jan. 21 for trainer Brad Cox.

Red Knight (Pure Prize), a Grade 2 winner (2022 Kentucky Turf Cup), worked four furlongs in 48.6 seconds at Gulfstream Park on Saturday morning. It was the fifth fastest of 21 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he won the William L. McKnight presented by Davidoff Cigars (G3) going 1 1/2 miles on the turf at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 28 for Maker.

Smile Happy (Runhappy), a Grade 2 winner (2021 Kentucky Jockey Club), worked four furlongs in 49.4 seconds at Fair Grounds on Saturday morning. It was the 37th fastest of 86 works at the distance.
