Darley Alcibiades (G1) winner Peace and War had a spirited run through the stretch Friday morning immediately after the renovation break when the track was harrowed.
“I got her last eighth in :10,” trainer Olly Stevens said. “The track is supposed to be wet the next two days, so now I can give her the weekend off. That should keep her feet on the ground.”
Owned by Qatar Racing, Peace and War initially was going to ship to Santa Anita for the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) to be run Nov. 1 on Oct. 14, but Stevens is keeping the filly here for now.
“We are going to go on the 21st,” Stevens said. “She has done so well, we are just going to keep her here. Plus, it has been very hot out there.”
