Starlight Racing’s Patsy’s Holiday angled out for the stretch drive and pushed past Charm City Girl in the final 1/16th of a mile to take the $60,000 Desert Vixen Stakes at Monmouth Park on Saturday by a half-length.

Trained by Todd Pletcher, Patsy’s Holiday covered the mile and a sixteenth over firm turf in 1:41 1/5 and paid $8, $4.20 and $3.  Charm City Girl completed the $32.60 exacta and returned $4.40 to place and $3 to show.  It was another two lengths back to Super Sky, who paid $3.40 to show.

“I had a lot of horse the whole way,” said winning jockey Pedro Cotto Jr.  “I was just waiting to make my move.  Turning for home I swung her out and she finished up real strong.”

A 3-year-old filly by Harlan’s Holiday from the Chester House mare Miss Patsy, Patsy’s Holiday has now won four of her 10 lifetime starts, good for earnings of $116,110.
