Parx Racing in partnership with the Pennsylvania Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association added next Thursday to its live racing calendar. The first post will occur at 12:05 p.m. EST.

For the second time in a handful of weeks Parx Racing is adding a Thursday race day to its calendar, on the heels of the track’s normal racing schedule of Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The goal is to provide additional start opportunities for the benefit of the horsemen and track after the loss of race days because of wintery conditions throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

Parx, located near Philadelphia, cancelled racing on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

“Adding days where possible helps all of us, especially during the winter months when we are battling weather out of our control,” Parx racing director David Osojnak said. “Scheduling additional race days means adding opportunities for the horsemen to run their horses and generate income. We are appreciative of the outfits who stable here year-round supporting Parx. When possible, we will always try to make up days for the benefit of all involved.”

Entries will be taken Sunday.

“I’d again like to thank the collaborative efforts of our PTHA Team, Parx Racing, and the Pennsylvania Racing Commission, especially Thomas Chuckas Jr. and Ismael Navarreto,” PTHA executive director, Jeffrey A. Matty Jr. said. “Organizing all the moving parts needed for live racing just a week out from race day, is a testament to what can be accomplished when we all work together for the betterment of racing at Parx and the Commonwealth overall.”
