Partyallnightlong Not to Be Denied in John Reilly 'Cap
Richard Malouf and Edwin T. Broome’s Partyallnightlong sat just off the early speed of Rainbow Heir before moving for the lead turning for home and drawing clear to a convincing three-length score in the $60,000 John J. Reilly Handicap at Monmouth Park on Saturday.
Ridden by Paco Lopez for his fourth winner of the day, Partyallnightlong covered the six furlongs over a fast main track in 1:10 3/5 and paid $7.40, $3.60 and $3 as the second choice in the field of eight New Jersey-bred colts and geldings. Zealevo rallied to complete the $30.80 exacta and paid $5.20 and $3.40. It was a head back to Gunfighter, who paid $6.20 to show. Odds-on favorite Rainbow Heir faded in the stretch to finish fifth.
“Paco rode him perfectly,” said Broome, who also conditions the 7-year-old horse. “He let him sit just off of Rainbow Heir and came when he was supposed to. This horse has speed and can go to the front if he wants to, but we don’t want him to. Paco did everything right.”
A son of Put It Back from the Jules mare Party to Party, Partyallnightlong has won 10 of his 21 lifetime starts, good for earnings of $499,030.
