Four-time graded stakes winner Factor This has been retired, owner Gaining Ground Racing announced Wednesday on Twitter.

Factor This, a 6-year-old son of The Factor, posted a career record of 35: 12-4-4 with nearly $1.3 million in earnings. He scored graded wins in 2020 in the Fair Grounds Stakes (G3), Muniz Memorial Classic Stakes (G2) at Fair Grounds, Wise Dan Stakes (G2) at Churchill Downs and Dinner Party Stakes (G2) at Pimlico.

In his most recent start, Factor This ran fifth in February’s 2021 edition of the Fair Grounds Stakes. He worked consistently since that start, including last Friday at Churchill, before owners announced his retirement.

Factor This started his career racing in New York for trainer Edward Barker. He was claimed out of a 2018 Saratoga victory by Gaining Ground and trainer Brad Cox, who saddled him to eight victories between his 4- and 5-year-old campaigns.
