Full Ransom, the longest shot at 17-1 in a field of seven older fillies and mares, benefitted from a ground-saving ride by jockey Santiago Gonzalez to win Saturday’s featured $82,900 Kathryn Crosby Stakes at a mile and one-sixteenth over the infield Jimmy Durante Turf Course.

Full Ransom, representing the DP Racing stable of Deron Pearson of Las Vegas, Nevada and trained by Jim Cassidy, rallied into contention entering the stretch and overhauled pacesetter and 5-2 favored Chaulk O Lattey in the final sixteenth to score by one and one-quarter lengths.

Chaulk O Lattey, piloted by Rafael Bejarano, held on well to be second, a half-length in front of third-place Beat of the Drum, with Three Hearts rallying to be fourth.

Full Ransom, a four-year-old daughter of Full Mandate bred in Florida, ran the distance in 1:41.72 to score her fourth triumph in 15 starts. First money of $46,740 boosted her earnings to $228,740.

The winner paid $36.60, $14.80 and $4.80. Runner-up Chaulk O Lattey paid $4.60 and $2.80, while Beat of the Drum returned $3 to show. Cast in Silver was scratched from the original field.

Upsets by Full Ransom in the feature and an $86.60 surprise by Professor Berns in the fourth race keyed a Pick Six carryover of $75,858 into Sunday’s nine-race program beginning at 12:30 p.m.

Trainer Hector Palma achieved a personal milestone when he sent out Tough But Nice to win the third race at $13.80 and give the veteran trainer the 1,100thtriumph of his lengthy career. Palma made it a double for the day with Shiny Nugget at $45.80 in the ninth and final race under jockey Felipe Valdez. The latter also won the fifth race on Ice Cream Truck for a $13.40 payoff.
