Our Nautique upsets S.F. Mile

Our Nautique has been a consistent front-running performer in middle-distance races for trainer and co-owner Jerry Hollendorfer since arriving from his native New Zealand a little more than a year ago.

But the 6-year-old gelding stepped it up a notch Saturday at Golden Gate Fields, winning his first stakes event with a 19-to-1 upset in the Grade 3, $100,000 San Francisco Mile.

Given a perfect ride by Kevin Krigger, Our Nautique set comfortable fractions of :24.20 for the first quarter-mile and :48.48 for the first half on the firm turf course while maintaining a 1-length lead over Hudson Landing.
