David Jacobson’s Ostrolenka sat off the early speed before angling out in the stretch and running down Defer Heaven in the lane to capture the $41,000 allowance/optional claiming feature at Monmouth Park on Sunday afternoon by just over a length.
Conditioned by the owner, Ostrolenka went the six furlongs over a fast main track in 1:08.77 and returned $4.40, $2.60 and $2.10 as the favorite in the field of six colts and geldings.  Defer Heaven completed the $13.20 exacta and paid $2.60 and $2.10.  It was another three lengths back to Mello Groove, who paid $2.60 to show.
“This was a nice confidence booster for him,” said winning jockey Joe Bravo.  “He was so full of himself after crossing the wire.  This horse will be heard from at Saratoga this summer.”
A 5-year-old horse by Musket Man from the Louis Quatorze mare Pumpkin’s Pride, Ostrolenka sports a record of 6-4-5 from 27 outings.

Live racing continues at Monmouth Park on Friday, June 30 – gates open 11:30 a.m., first post 12:50 p.m.  As always, the racetrack is open seven days a week for simulcasting from across the country and around the globe.
