Orientate Joins Northview Stallion Roster

Grade 1 sire ORIENTATE, Breeders' Cup Sprint-G1 winner and the Eclipse Award-winning sprint champion of 2002, has been moved from Gainesway in Lexington, Ky., to Northview Stallion Station in Chesapeake City, Md.  Owned by a syndicate, ORIENTATE will stand for $5,000.

A son of major sprinter and sire Mt. Livermore, ORIENTATE has established himself as a sire with 35 stakes winners in seven crops and total progeny earnings of nearly $34 million.  His offspring include Gr. 1 winners LADY JOANNE (Alabama S.-G1), INTANGAROO (Humana Distaff H.-G1) and LADY SPRINTER (Gran Premio Maipu-G1 in Argentina), General George H.-G2 winner GREENSPRING and graded stakes-winning juvenile SUCCESSFUL OUTLOOK.

ORIENTATE's progeny earned more than $5 million for four consecutive years, and in 2012 he was represented by seven stakes winners, including juvenile TATE'S LANDING, a dominating winner of the Laurel Futurity.

Ranked 11th in the nation by number of winners in 2011 with 133, ORIENTATE had 121 winners in 2012, $4.7 million in progeny earnings and 14 stakes horses.  His leading earner, the 3-year-old colt RIVER RUSH ($181,169), set a track record for 1 1/8 miles at Woodbine in the Plate Trial S., cruising home by five and a quarter lengths in 1:48.97.

"We're excited for the opportunity to bring Orientate to breeders in the region," said Richard Golden, president and CEO of Northview. "He consistently gets a great number of winners, with high earning potential, and can get Grade 1 winners. He proved his class as a racehorse and, being a Blushing Groom line stallion out of a *Turn-to line mare, offers breeders a pedigree free of Northern Dancer and Mr. Prospector."

At the sales, ORIENTATE's 2-year-olds in training averaged $123,167 in 2012, including a $450,000 colt, a session topper at Ocala Breeders Sales' Company in April.

ORIENTATE will be available for inspection at Northview Stallion Station beginning Wednesday, February 6th.  Call Carl McEntee at 443-566-2996 to schedule a visit.
