The Backside Learning Center, an organization dedicated to building community and enriching the lives of equine workers and their families at Churchill Downs racetrack, will hold its largest annual fundraiser -- Benefit for the Backside: A Day at the Races -- Nov. 22 on Millionaire’s Row at Churchill Downs.
Online auctions open as follows: Premium items and experiences open for bidding on Monday, and all items open for bidding on Thursday. The Online auction will close at 3:45 p.m. ET.
Premium items include:
1. Two Kentucky Derby winner Country House Halters
2. Six box tickets to the Kentucky Derby 2020
3. Six box seats to the Kentucky Oaks 2020
4. A backside tour with former jockey Fabio Arguello
5. Tour of Horse Country and WinStar Farm, and so much more.
This event is unique in that, in addition to an incredible silent auction, bourbon raffle, delicious food and great company, guests can enjoy a full day of racing with picturesque views from Millionaire’s Row.
For the first time, this event will feature a raffle of 250 tickets with a prize of a Finish Line Suite for 40 individuals (drinks and Chef’s table included) for 'Thurby' 2020. Raffle tickets for the 'Thurby' suite are priced at $100.
Tickets sales and sponsorship opportunities can also be accessed via benefitforthebackside.org. Proceeds from the fundraiser will support the Backside Learning Center’s adult education, after school and summer youth programs.
“Without our partners, we would not be able to assist the nearly 1,000 equine workers and their families who are the backbone of the horse racing industry,” Sherry Stanley, executive director of the Backside Learning Center, said.
“We look forward to growing our community of support at this event which features the best of fall racing alongside making a strong impact for good in our community.”
The title sponsor for the Benefit for the Backside are Brook and Pam Smith of Post Parade Wines. Other major sponsors include Clarendon Flavors, Planet Fitness, Middleton Reutlinger, Civitas Financial and Gainesway Farm.
