Carl Bouckaert, Chairman of the Georgia Horse Coalition and owner of Chattahoochee Hills Bouckaert Farm, has made a generous donation of $5,000 to Old Friends, the Thoroughbred Retirement Facility in Georgetown, KY.

Bouckaert is a two-time Olympic rider in the discipline of eventing. His Chattahoochee Hills Bouckaert Farm is an 8,000-acre facility that has hosted many of Georgia’s finest eventing competitions, including the Chattahoochee Hills Country International Horse Trials and the USEF/USEA 2010-2012 American Eventing Championships.

The farm is also home to TomorrowWorld, one of the largest electronic dance-music festivals in North America.

“I learned about Old Friends last year when the Georgia Horse Racing Coalition worked with them on issues of local Thoroughbred aftercare,” said Boukaert, who is also a partner in Chattahoochee Hills Thoroughbred Racing, which owns a fractional interest in a several racehorses. “I started following their incredible work and seeing their incredible passion for these animals, and the more I read, the more I came to realize their need for support from equestrians like myself.

“It’s wonderful to see great old racehorses like [Kentucky Derby winner] Silver Charm and [multiple Grade 1 winner] Game on Dude spending the rest of their days in a loving environment,” Bouckaert added.

“We are grateful to Carl and can’t thank him enough for this generous donation,” said Michael Blowen, president and founder of Old Friends. "His contribution to the horse industry has been enormous and we are proud to count him among our supporters."
