Doug O’Neill and principle owner J. Paul Reddam are on a roll with 2-year-olds.
O’Neill, in pursuit of his fourth Santa Anita training title, has won four races this meet with juveniles, all owned by Reddam and three sired by Square Eddie: Ralis, Mrazek, and Found Money. The other, Nyquest, was sired by Uncle Mo.
“The Square Eddies are runners,” said O’Neill, who captured Santa Anita titles three straight meets from 2004-05 through 2006-07, and leads Richard Baltas by one, 18-17, after 30 days this meet.
“This is the third crop of Square Eddies to race,” O’Neill said. “They’re precocious, they’re smart, they’ve got a lot of class and they’ll carry it two turns as well. “They’ll run on turf or dirt; they’re very versatile horses.” Found Money and Mrazek are nominated to next Sunday’s $125,000 Santa Anita Juvenile at 5 ½ furlongs on the main track.
