Now you can own a part of the disappearing Belmont Park

Belmont Park, as you know it, is going away. If that has you feeling a bit wistful, the New York Racing Association might be able to help.

Among other improvements, NYRA is replacing the track's grandstand and clubhouse. And it is offering items from the old facilities for sale.

An online listing shows a pair of seats available for $350 and a wooden bench for $400. Turnstiles also are on offer for $450. Note: These items are in as-is condition.

Other items, such as signage, are expected to be available, according to a NYRA representative.

As part of the project, NYRA will modernize backstretch housing and barn area facilities. It is adding a synthetic track, which will allow it to host Thoroughbred racing on a year-round basis. NYRA said in a news release earlier this year that the Breeders’ Cup announced its commitment to add Belmont to the rotation of host venues after the improvements are complete.

When the project is complete, NYRA will consolidate all downstate racing and training activities at the new Belmont Park, unlocking 110 acres of New York State-owned land at Aqueduct Racetrack for development opportunities. Located adjacent to JFK Airport and on a major public transit line, the Aqueduct parcel was appraised at a value of $1 billion.
