Noosa Beach Wins Emerald Downs Feature

The Doris Harwood barn flexed its muscles Sunday in the $20,000 allowance feature for older horses at Emerald Downs.

The Harwood-trained 4-year-olds Noosa Beach and Winning Machine turned in a spectacular finish, dueling the length of the stretch in their first starts of the year. Noosa Beach emerged victorious, by a neck, and the Jeff Harwood-owned gelding remained undefeated in sprints.

Ridden by Ricky Frazier, Noosa Beach ran 5 ½ furlongs in 1:02 1/5 on a fast track and paid $4.60, $2.60 and $2.20. A triple stakes winner at Emerald Downs, the Washington-bred by Harbor the Gold earned $11,000 to up his bankroll to $151,840. Noosa Beach is 5-for-5 around one turn, and has an overall mark of 10-5-2-2.
