No Spin Seeks Arlington Stakes Glory

Leonard Blach and Ray Willis’s No Spin, scratched out of Thursday’s fourth race, will be trained up to his next scheduled engagement in the Grade III Arlington-Washington Futurity on Sept. 10.

“I worked him the other day (Aug. 24 going seven-eighths in 1:28) and it was a really good work for him,” said trainer Tim Ice Friday morning.  “He’s been going well lately and now I’m trying to get him ready to go longer.”

No Spin accomplished his Wednesday work with early splits of 37 flat, 49.40, 1:02 and 1:15 and then galloped out the mile in 1:43.

“Now, I’m just going to try to keep getting a little air into him,” the trainer said while speaking of Arlington’s one-mile Futurity which serves as the main event for juveniles during Chicago’s summer racing season.

Ice is best known for saddling Kalarikkal and Vilasini Jayaraman’s Summer Bird to win the Belmont Stakes at a mile and a half in 2009.
