Although several daytime tracks canceled racing Wednesday afternoon, evening opportunities abound for horseplayers at both Canterbury Park and Assiniboia Downs. Horse Racing Nation's Pro Reports are available for every track, every day and help bettors find more effective ways to wager.

Newer players at these tracks can begin with informative e-books. Secrets to Win at Assiniboia Downs and Secrets to Win at Canterbury Park are both available for free. Each e-book features stats and trends unique to that track as a great starting point for any handicapper.

Going a perfect 3-for-3 Tuesday evening at Assiniboia, the Horses to Single Report suggests another trio on Wednesday night. At Canterbury Park, No. 8 Hold the Spice (2-1 ML) in Race 4 and No. 3 Ardanwood (2-1 ML) in Race 6 could assist 10% takeout Pick 5 players searching for spots to thin tickets. The 50-cent base Pick 5 starts in Race 4.

At Assiniboia, the suggested single is No. 5 Liveryman (7-5 ML) in Race 2. With No. 1 Strong Belief (8-5 ML) as another short priced alternative in the field, Pick 3 players could afford more coverage in the bookending legs by relying on Liveryman. Pick 3 wagers are offered at a 20-cent base in Canada.

The paces are projected to be much cooler than the current Midwestern weather. Horse Racing Nation's Pace Report not only examines the early speed, or lack thereof. This report also predicts which horse will be the pacesetter.

Early speed is always advantageous, and should benefit suggested single Liveryman in Race 2, as well as No. 7 Victoriaville (4-1 ML) in Race 3 at Assiniboia. The hottest pace of the night should be in Race 5, where No. 6 Bye Y'all (7-1 ML) should be the one in front early. That may be the spot to search for a horse coming from off the pace. No. 3 Back Inthat Action (4-1 ML) could be the best option with that running style and comes in off a win last time out.

At Canterbury Park, the paces aren't predicted to be much faster. With the slowest paces projected in Races 3 and 4, the early leaders may be important to consider. No. 3 Jimmy's Macro (10-1 ML) in Race 3 and No. 1 Direct Action (6-1 ML) in Race 4 could both offer some value as lone speed.

Race 8 at Canterbury presents an excellent opportunity to play against favored No. 7 Hamazing Lace (2-1 ML). The Sire Moves Report shows that sire Hamazing Destiny has yet to produce a turf sprint winner from 7 to attempt the surface and distance. Hamazing Lace could be the first, but 2-1 is not the price to find out.

The horse that should move up with this surface switch is No. 2 House of Targaryen (6-1 ML). Sire Idiot Proof is 15 percent with his offspring sprinting on wet dirt. That win rate jumps to 25 percent with turf sprinters. The HRN Impact Score increases from +4 percent to +38 percent, indicating that House of Targaryen could be a great bet.
