Newfound Gold Scores at Emerald Downs

Newfound Gold, an 11-1 long shot, led gate-to-wire and notched a 2 ½-length victory Sunday in the $13,800 Comcast Purse at Emerald Downs.

With Pedro Terrero riding for trainer Larry Ross and owner Rick Beal of Renton, Newfound Gold ran 5-½ furlongs in 1:02.78 on a wet-fast track and paid $24.20, $6.60 and $5.

Olympic Lights, the 1-1 betting favorite ridden by Robert Skelly, chased the winner from flag-fall to finish but had to settle for second place. Olympic Lights paid $3.20 and $2.10.
