Never Retreat is starting to pay off big for Team Block.
The 6-year-old mare stalked the pace early and drew clear in midstretch for a 1¾-length victory over Fantasia in Saturday's $200,000, Grade II Jenny Wiley Stakes at Keeneland.
The Illinois-based Team Block — consisting of David and Patricia Block and their son Ryan — bought Never Retreat as a 4-year-old. She posted her first graded-stakes victory in her previous start — last month's Grade III Honey Fox at Gulfstream Park — and followed it up with another strong performance Saturday.
