Nest jumps to No. 3 in NTRA rankings with Shuvee win
Nest's win in her 2023 debut vaulted her to No. 3 in the latest National Thoroughbred Racing Association rankings of top Thoroughbreds.
The 2022 champion 3-year-old filly made her first start of the year for trainer Todd Pletcher Saturday in the Grade 2 Shuvee at Saratoga, winning by 2 1/4 lengths over Clairiere. Before the win, she had been ranked No. 34 among top Thoroughbreds.
With the loss, Clairiere fell to No. 6 in the rankings from No. 3 the previous week.
Cody's Wish, 2-for-2 this year and on a six-race win streak, remains at No. 1 in the poll, followed by Elite Power, the 2022 champion male sprinter who is undefeated in seven starts since breaking his maiden at Churchill Downs last June.
Voting for the NTRA top Thoroughbred poll is conducted by national media.
After the top 10 shown here, the next three in the voting were Haskell (G3) winner Geaux Rocket Ride, Art Collector and Proxy.
