Neolithic joins stallion roster at Florida's Pleasant Acres Stallions
Farm Owners Joe and Helen Barbazon are excited to announce the addition of Neolithic to the stallion roster at Pleasant Acres Stallions in Morriston, Florida, for the 2018 breeding season.
“Helen and I have made it our mission to bring stallions to Florida that offer Florida Breeders new blood each year," said Farm Owner Joe Barbazon. "Neolithic will be the first Harlan's Holiday to stand in Florida and we are proud that not only is he the first, but he is also his sire’s highest earner who finished a brilliant third to Longines highest-rated race horse, Arrogate, in the Pegasus right here in Florida. We couldn't be more pleased."
Neolithic is by Harlan’s Holiday – a multiple G1-winning millionaire on the racetrack and a proven sire of sires with Into Mischief and Eclipse champion and Breeders’ Cup winner Shanghai Bobby.
“We are extremely excited with the opportunity of standing Harlan's Holiday's leading earner Neolithic," said Director of Bloodstock Michelle Hemingway. "Harlan's Holiday is quickly proving himself to be a sire of sires, and with Neolithic being out of a Victory Gallop mare, it will provide Florida Breeders with the best of both worlds – stamina and speed."
Trained by Todd Pletcher, Neolithic won three of 12 career starts and secured three G1 placings. He only came in behind third place two times in his career. Neolithic retires with $2,278,028 in earnings with an average of $189,836 earnings per start. Neolithic finished third behind 2016 Horse of the Year, Arrogate, and the 2017 Horse of the Year, Gun Runner, in the $10 million Dubai World Cup.
He was purchased by Starlight Racing in the 2014 Keeneland September Yearling Sale for $460,000 and was owned and campaigned by Starlight Racing and Qatar Racing.
Neolithic will join stallions Amira’s Prince, Anthony’s Cross, Beau Choix, Handsome Mike, Long Island Sound, Poseidon’s Warrior, Ride On Curlin, and Treasure Beach at the 220-acre farm located just northwest of Ocala.
Pleasant Acres Stallions is #1 and #2 on the 2017 Leading Florida First-Crop Sires list with Poseidon’s Warrior ($598,466) and Treasure Beach ($588,439.) Poseidon’s Warrior and Treasure beach are the only two first crop sires in Florida with earnings more than $500,000 in 2017.
