Churchill weather: Rain chances 100% for Oaks, 50% for Derby

The National Weather Service’s forecast, as of Wednesday morning, shows a 50-percent chance of rain on Kentucky Derby day at Churchill Downs.

Here is the NWS forecast for Saturday in Louisville.


Saturday:
 "A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 67. Chance of precipitation is 50%"

Saturday Night: "A 30 percent chance of showers before 9pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 55."

As for Friday’s Kentucky Oaks card, the NWS shows a highly likely chance of rain.

Friday: "Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 9am, then showers between 9am and noon, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after noon. High near 77. South wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible."
