Napravnik, Studart almost sweep Pick 6

All handicappers have an angle.  On Wednesday afternoon at Aqueduct Racetrack, those who played female jockeys in the Pick 6 found themselves handsomely rewarded when Anna Rose Napravnik and Maylan Studart accounted for five of six winners and a $334.50 consolation payout.  Only two bettors correctly picked six yesterday for a $54,651.00 payout.  The winning tickets were sold at Aqueduct and in Toronto, Canada, at an Ontario Jockey Club teletheater.

Napravnik captured the first leg in Race 4, edging clear to a 1½-length victory aboard favored Afrikaner ($3.30) as the only female rider in the race.  In Race 5, Studart scored a narrow upset over the favorite on Metulla, returning $27.  Napravnik, too, upset a favorite in Race 6, getting Slamm’n Lou ($13.20) clear late.

Angel Serpa brought the streak to a halt in Race 7, finishing more than nine lengths in front of the field aboard favored Dreamed Day ($4.10).  Napravnik, the only female jockey in the race, finished fourth on Cardiologist.

Napravnik and Studart hardly missed a beat though, with Napravnik closing late for a win aboard Peace Town ($15.40) in Race 8 and Studart getting up in the final strides of the nightcap on Kim Karakorum ($8.60).
