NYRA reschedules Withers to next Friday, requests more dates
Friday, the New York Racing Association announced revisions to the stakes schedule and a plan for additional race days to account for weather related cancellations at Aqueduct.
NYRA, the New York Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association and New York Thoroughbred Breeders will request approval from the New York State Gaming Commission to conduct four additional days of live racing on Feb. 11, Feb. 19, Feb. 26 and March 5.

An additional card for Wednesday, which was previously approved by the NYSGC, was drawn Thursday. Live racing will resume at Aqueduct then with a 1:10 p.m. EST first post.
The four stakes initially slated for Saturday will be brought back next Friday. These include the $200,000 Withers, a 20-10-6-4-2 Kentucky Derby qualifier, the $200,000 Toboggan, $135,000 Ruthless and the $135,000 Ladies.
As previously announced, the $135,000 Interborough will also be brought back Friday, February 6. Entries for the February 6 program will be taken on Saturday, January 31.
Overnight races carded for Saturday will come back as extras for next Friday and beyond, while races carded for Sunday will be brought back as extras for the proposed makeup day of Feb. 11. Races in the existing condition book will be used for live racing scheduled from Feb. 12 through Feb. 15.
NYRA will provide an updated condition book to cover the period of Feb. 19 through March 8.
Aqueduct will remain open for simulcast operations Friday through Sunday.
