The New York Racing Association canceled live racing at Aqueduct on Thursday because ofa powerful storm forecast to bring extremely high winds and heavy rainfall to the New York City metropolitan area.

Current weather forecasts are calling for wind gusts exceeding 40 mph and up to 2 inches of rain as a result of Thursday's storm. The National Weather Service placed Southern Queens under a coastal flood advisory beginning at 1 p.m. EDT.

Aqueduct will remain open for simulcasting.

Live racing is slated to resume on Friday at Belmont at the Big A with a nine-race card featuring a pair of listed $150,000 stakes with the Tempted in race 2 and the Pumpkin Pie in race 8. First post on Friday's card is 1:05 p.m.

The Pick 6 carryover of $34,908 will move to Friday's program, beginning in Race 4 at 2:27 p.m.

On Friday, Aqueduct will be open for simulcasting from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. to accommodate the Breeders’ Cup future stars program from Del Mar.
