Mystik Dan joined the top 10 in the latest rankings of the world's best racehorses after his win in the Kentucky Derby.

The Goldencents colt trained by Kenny McPeek is tied for sixth in the rankings, which are compiled by the world’s best racehorse rankings committee and published by the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities.

The rankings grade a horses's best race and don't necessarily reflect a full body of work.

National Treasure and Señor Buscador, tied with Notable Speech for no. 3 on the list, remain the top-ranked U.S.-based horses. Fierceness is the only other U.S horse in the top 10, part of a nine-way tie for sixth place.

The top-ranked horse on the list is Laurel River, winner of the Group 1 Dubai World Cup. The 6-year-old son of Laurel River was bred in Kentucky but is based in the United Arab Emirates.

The rankings are for 3-year-olds and upwards who raced between Jan. 1 and May 5.
