Musical Romance and jockey Juan Leyva have become known for finding a way to weave through tight spots and win big stakes races with exciting finishes.

They did it again on Saturday, beating 55-1 long shot Hot Summer by three quarters of a length in the $150,000 Inside Information Stakes (Grade 2) at Gulfstream Park.

“Those two have something going, and Juan knows how to be patient with her,” said Bill Kaplan, the trainer of Musical Romance.

He owns the 5-year-old mare in a partnership with Pinnacle Racing Stable, whose managing partner Adam Lazarus lives in Aventura.

Musical Romance and Leyva found an opening between horses in the stretch to win last year’s Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint Stakes at Churchill Downs.

On Saturday, Musical Romance was near the inside and in fourth place with about 200 yards left in the seven-furlong stakes.
