Mucho Macho Man Drills Gulfstream Bullet

Reeves Thoroughbred Racing and partners’ 3-year-old Mucho Macho Man worked a bullet five furlongs in :59 1/5 Jan. 15 at Gulfstream Park for trainer Kathy Ritvo as he prepares for his 2011 debut in the $400,000 Holy Bull Stakes (gr. III) to be run at one mile on Jan. 30.

The son of Macho Uno was runner-up behind To Honor and Servein both the Nashua Stakes (gr. II) and Remsen Stakes (gr. II) as a juvenile and his time Saturday was tied for fastest of 32 at the distance.

Mucho Macho Man was prominent on a list of high-profile stakes runners to hit the work Tab Saturday morning along Donald Dizney’s 4-year-old First Dude and Carol Nyren’s 7-year-old gelding Dry Martini, both possible candidates for the $500,000 Sunshine Millions Classic Jan. 29.

First Dude was timed seven furlongs flat in 1:25 as he prepares for his first start since finishing eighth in the Breeders’ Cup Classic (gr. I) Nov. 6. Trained by Dale Romans, the Florida homebred by Stephen Got Even   finished second in the Preakness (gr. I) and third in the Belmont Stakes (gr. I) last spring in a very productive, but somewhat frustrating season for his connections.
