Game On Dude, the only three-time winner of the Santa Anita Handicap, has been retired, trainer Bob Baffert announced Thursday.

The 7-year-old gelding captured 16 of 34 starts and won $6,498,893 including eight Grade I races for owners Bernie Schiappa, Debbie Lanni, Joe Torre and Ernie Moody.

Game On Dude won the Santa Anita Handicap in 2011, 2013 and 2014, but was coming off three straight losses before his retirement. His last start was a fourth-place finish in the Pacific Classic on Aug. 24, 5 ¼ lengths behind victorious Shared Belief.

“He’s gotten beat three races in a row and it’s not fun for the horse,” Baffert told Daily Racing Form. “He’s been too good for us. When he was great, he was great.”
