Monmouth Park off to flying start

On the type of chilly, overcast day that makes any outdoor activity a tough draw, hundreds of horse racing fans stood along the rail at Monmouth Park on Sunday, cheering on their picks or cursing their bad luck as their horses headed to defeat. There was nothing particularly special about the race, the $100,000 Spend A Buck Stakes, but it did not feel that way. Energy and excitement, often missing from a day at the typical racetrack, had returned to Monmouth Park.
