Inclement weather has forced a cancellation of Monday’s slate of racing at Monmouth Park, according to a social media post from the track.

“Due to heavy rain and wind, live racing today has been cancelled,” the post said. “Racing will resume Wednesday, October 14.”

Forecasts for Oceanport, New Jersey, where Monmouth is located, call for rain and wind all day, with a gale warning issued by the National Weather Service in Philadelphia until 9 p.m.

Monday’s card was to include eight races, highlighted by the $100,000 Born to Run Stakes for 2-year-olds, going 5 1/2 furlongs on the turf.

Wednesday’s card also includes eight races, highlighted by the $100,000 Jersey Shore Stakes. Post time for the first race Wednesday is scheduled for 12:50 p.m.
