Quiet Winter Farm’s Julia Chubouli scored for the second time at the Monmouth Park meeting when the 5-year-old mare took control right from the start and held off odds-on favorite Squan’s Kingdom to capture the $40,000 allowance/optional claiming feature on Friday afternoon.
Trained by J. Willard Thompson, Julia Chubouli covered the six furlongs over a fast main track in 1:11.24 and returned $7.80, $3.40, $2.20.  Squan’s Kingdom checked in a length back and paid $2.40 and $2.10. The exacta returned $16.80.  Casino Call rallied to pay $2.40 to show.
“She broke sharp,” said winning jockey Eddie Castro.  “She was going nice and easy up the backstretch and was well within herself the whole way.  She felt the other horse coming on in the stretch and responded well.”
A daughter of Hey Chub from the Tapit mare White Eye Julia I., Julia Chubouli has now won four of her 11 starts.  She is a perfect two-for-two in 2017.

Live racing continues at Monmouth Park on Saturday, June 10.  Gates will open early at 11 a.m. as Monmouth beams in all the action from Belmont Park, including the 149th running of the Belmont Stakes.  Post time at Belmont is 11:35 a.m., with Monmouth’s first race going at 12:50 p.m.
