Monday works: Tamara, Trikari lead 11 graded winners

Two Grade 1 winners posted bullet workouts Monday morning.

Tamara blew out five furlongs in 59.0 seconds at Del Mar, fastest of 24 over the course and distance. The Richard Mandella trainee, a daughter of the great racemare Beholder, won the 2023 Del Mar Debutante (G1). She has been on the work tab regularly through the summer but has not raced since finishing second in an allowance last November.

Trikari also earned a bullet Monday. He worked four furlongs in 49.0 seconds over the dirt at trainer Graham Motion's Fair Hill base. The work was his second since a third-place outing in the Prince George's County Stakes at Laurel Park on June 28. He still seeks his first win at age 4, but he won three graded-stakes races as a sophomore, including the Belmont Derby (G1).

Excellent Truth (Cotai Glory), a Grade 1 winner (2025 Diana), worked four furlongs in 49.9 seconds on turf at Saratoga on Monday morning. It was the fifth fastest of 29 works at the distance. Her previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Saratoga. In her last start, she won the Diana (G1) going 1 1/8 miles on the turf at Saratoga on July 12 for trainer Chad Brown.

Nitrogen (Medaglia d'Oro), a Grade 1 winner (2025 Alabama), worked four furlongs in 48.6 seconds at Belmont Park on Monday morning. It was the fourth fastest of 36 works at the distance. This was her first work since her last race. In her last start, she won the Alabama (G1) going 1 1/4 miles on the main track at Saratoga on Aug. 16 for trainer Mark Casse.

Tamara (Bolt d'Oro), a Grade 1 winner (2023 Del Mar Debutante), worked five furlongs in 59.0 seconds at Del Mar on Monday morning. It was the fastest of 24 works at the distance. Her previous work was 13 days ago going six furlongs at Del Mar. In her last start, she placed second in an allowance race going six furlongs on the main track at Del Mar on Nov. 15 for trainer Richard Mandella.

Trikari (Oscar Performance), a Grade 1 winner (2024 Belmont Derby Invitational), worked four furlongs in 49.0 seconds at Fair Hill on Monday morning. It was the fastest of four works at the distance. His previous work was eight days ago going four furlongs at Fair Hill. In his last start, he placed third in the Prince George's County going 1 1/8 miles on the turf at Laurel Park on June 28 for trainer Graham Motion.

Banishing (Ghostzapper), a Grade 2 winner (2025 Charles Town Classic), worked three furlongs in 38.4 seconds at Churchill Training on Monday morning. It was the slower of two works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start, he won the Charles Town Classic (G2) going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Charles Town on Aug. 22 for trainer David Jacobson.

Ewing (Knicks Go), a Grade 2 winner (2025 Saratoga Special), worked four furlongs in 48.6 seconds at Belmont Park on Monday morning. It was the fifth fastest of 36 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Saratoga. In his last start, he won the Saratoga Special (G2) going 6 1/2 furlongs on the main track at Saratoga on Aug. 2 for trainer Mark Casse.

Gun Song (Gun Runner), a Grade 2 winner (2024 Black-Eyed Susan), worked four furlongs in 48.8 seconds at Belmont Park on Monday morning. It was the seventh fastest of 36 works at the distance. Her previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Saratoga. In her last start, she placed fourth in the Shuvee (G2) going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Saratoga on July 18 for trainer Mark Hennig.

Ozara (Lope de Vega), a Grade 2 winner (2025 Ballston Spa), worked five furlongs in 1:00.2 on turf at Saratoga on Monday morning. It was the faster of two works at the distance. Her previous work was eight days ago going five furlongs at Saratoga. In her last start, she won the Ballston Spa (G2) going 1 1/16 miles on the turf at Saratoga on Aug. 8 for trainer Miguel Clement.

Repo Rocks (Tapiture), a two-time Grade 3 winner (2023 Westchester, 2023 Toboggan), worked five furlongs in 1:00.0 at Parx Racing on Monday morning. It was the faster of two works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start, he placed third in the Philip H. Iselin (G3) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Monmouth Park on Aug. 16 for trainer Jamie Ness.

Background (Khozan), a Grade 3 winner (2021 Longacres Mile Handicap), worked four furlongs in 49.4 seconds at Churchill Downs on Monday morning. It was the 12th fastest of 20 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Churchill Downs. In his last start, he placed eighth in a claiming race going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Ellis Park on Aug. 16 for trainer Steve Asmussen.

Big City Lights (Mr. Big), a Grade 3 winner (2024 Palos Verdes), worked three furlongs in 35.4 seconds at Del Mar on Monday morning. It was the fastest of 22 works at the distance. His previous work was six days ago going three furlongs at Del Mar. In his last start, he won the Don Valpredo California Cup Sprint going six furlongs on the main track at Santa Anita on Jan. 18 for trainer Richard Mandella.
