Monday works: Speed Boat Beach continues on comeback trail

Speed Boat Beach, unraced since winning the Grade 1 Malibu in December of 2023, continues on the comeback trail. The Bob Baffert trainee worked four furlongs at Santa Anita in 48.0 seconds Monday. The 5-year-old son of Bayern, a graded-stakes winner at ages 2 and 3, has been back on the work tab regularly since mid-January.

Maysam, who rebounded from her Sunland Derby defeat with a nose victory in the Santa Ysabel (G2) on March 1, returned to work Monday for the first time since that win. The daughter of Game Winner worked four furlongs in 48.4 seconds. Maysam has won two of her three career starts, and was 51-1 in the Kentucky Oaks Future Wager pool that closed Sunday.
