Monday works: Practical Move, Adare Manor lead graded winners

Practical Move, unraced since winning the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby but a regular presence on the Del Mar work tab since mid-August, posted another drill Monday morning. The Tim Yakteen trainee stretched out to six furlongs for that work, covering the distance in 1:12.6. A winner of three straight, Practical Move is possible to return in the Pennsylvania Derby (G1) at Parx on Sept. 23.

Adare Manor, who won the Clement L. Hirsch (G1) in her last start, worked a sharp four furlongs Monday morning in her third drill since that race. She went the distance in 47.8 seconds over the dirt at Del Mar. A daughter of Uncle Mo and the current leader of the West Coast distaff division, she has won four straight races for trainer Bob Baffert dating back to March 31.

Arabian Lion (Justify), a Grade 1 winner (2023 Woody Stephens), worked five furlongs in 59.8 seconds at Del Mar on Monday morning. It was the fifth fastest of 14 works at the distance. His previous work was six days ago going six furlongs at Del Mar. In his last start he placed third in the H. Allen Jerkens Memorial (G1) going seven furlongs on the main track at Saratoga on Aug. 26 for trainer Bob Baffert.

Macadamia (Hat Trick), a Grade 1 winner (2023 Gamely), worked four furlongs in 50.0 seconds at Del Mar on Monday morning. It was the 31st fastest of 44 works at the distance. Her previous work was 15 days ago going five furlongs at Del Mar. In her last start she won the Gamely (G1) going 1 1/8 miles on the turf at Santa Anita on May 29 for trainer Philip D'Amato.

Practical Move (Practical Joke), a Grade 1 winner (2023 Santa Anita Derby), worked six furlongs in 1:12.6 at Del Mar on Monday morning. It was the fastest of three works at the distance. His previous work was six days ago going five furlongs at Del Mar. In his last start he won the Santa Anita Derby (G1) going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Santa Anita on April 8 for trainer Tim Yakteen.

Hong Kong Harry (Es Que Love), a two-time Grade 2 winner (2022 Seabiscuit Handicap, 2022 Del Mar Mile), worked four furlongs in 49.8 seconds at Del Mar on Monday morning. It was the 27th fastest of 44 works at the distance. His previous work was 15 days ago going four furlongs at Del Mar. In his last start he placed third in the Shoemaker Mile (G1) going one mile on the turf at Santa Anita on May 29 for trainer Philip D'Amato.

Vegas Magic (Good Magic), a Grade 2 winner (2022 Sorrento), worked three furlongs in 37.5 seconds at Charles Town on Monday morning. It was the third fastest of six works at the distance. Azul Coast (Super Saver), a Grade 3 winner (2021 Native Diver), worked four furlongs in 48.2 seconds at Del Mar on Monday morning. It was the eighth fastest of 44 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed 11th in the Del Mar Handicap (G2) going 1 3/8 miles on the turf at Del Mar on Sep. 2 for trainer Bob Baffert.

Cupid's Claws (Kitten's Joy), a Grade 3 winner (2020 Tokyo City Cup), worked four furlongs in 49.0 seconds at Woodbine on Monday morning. It was the sixth fastest of 11 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed fourth in a starter allowance race going 1 3/8 miles on the turf at Woodbine on Aug. 20 for trainer Mark Casse.

Zoffarelli (Zoffany), a Grade 3 winner (2021 La Jolla Handicap), worked four furlongs in 49.6 seconds at Del Mar on Monday morning. It was the 25th fastest of 44 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed fourth in an allowance race going five furlongs on the turf at Del Mar on Aug. 31 for trainer Jeff Mullins.
