Monday works: Nevada Beach leads 11 graded-stakes winners

Nevada Beach is back at work for trainer Bob Baffert after his win in the Grade 3 Native Diver on Nov. 22.

The 3-year-old Omaha Beach colt drilled five furlongs in 59.8 seconds at Santa Anita on Monday, third fastest of 62 at the distance. It was his second work since the Native Diver after going four furlongs in a bullet 47.2 seconds at Santa Anita on Dec. 8.

Nevada Beach debuted in April with a maiden special weight victory and won four of his six starts this year. His other wins came in the listed Los Alamitos Derby and the Goodwood (G1). The latter win earned him a spot in the Breeders' Cup Classic, where he finished seventh.

Nevada Beach was one of 11 graded-stakes winners with published works Monday.

In her last start she won the Chillingworth (G3) going 6 1/2 furlongs on the main track at Santa Anita on Oct. 4 for trainer Richard Mandella.

Gigante (Not This Time), a Grade 2 winner (2023 Secretariat), worked four furlongs in 50.2 seconds at Fair Grounds on Monday morning. It was the 25th fastest of 35 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Fair Grounds. In his last start he won an allowance race going 7 1/2 furlongs on the turf at Remington Park on Nov. 6 for trainer Steve Asmussen.

Mucho Del Oro (Mucho Macho Man), a two-time Grade 3 winner (2024 Daytona, 2024 San Simeon), worked five furlongs in 1:03.8 at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the 57th fastest of 62 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed fourth in an allowance race going five furlongs on the turf at Del Mar on Nov. 28 for trainer George Papaprodromou.

Packs a Wahlop (Creative Cause), a two-time Grade 3 winner (2022 Zuma Beach, 2022 Del Mar Juvenile Turf), worked five furlongs in 1:00.6 at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the 12th fastest of 62 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start he placed sixth in an allowance race going 1 1/8 miles on the turf at Santa Anita on Oct. 11 for trainer John Sadler.

Battle of Normandy (City of Light), a Grade 3 winner (2024 River City), worked four furlongs in 48.4 seconds at Payson Park on Monday morning. It was the fastest of four works at the distance. His previous work was eight days ago going four furlongs at Payson Park.
